Avionics Technician

The certificate of Applied Science in Avionics program will supply the essential basic skills for students to enter the industry of Aviation as an entry level Avionics Technician. The main areas of concentration for this course include: Aviation Communications, Navigation Systems, Air/Ground Control Systems, Automatic Flight Control and RADAR. As an Avionic Technicians, some of the world wide areas of job opportunities in this field are: aviation maintenance, repair, manufacturing and installing new and upgraded aviation equipment. In the certificate in Avionics the students are not only trained in Basic Avionics, but also in Basic Electronics, Microprocessor and Computer Repair and their specialized test equipment.

 

The development and construction of satellites, helicopters and aircraft of all types and sizes play a key role in the field of Avionics. The Avionics Technicians as they become a specialist in their field are responsible for the assembly, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of these airborne and space-related components.

 

Student receiving an Avionics Certificate shall be given the opportunity to take FCC certification exams in elements 1, 3, and 8.
