Implementing the CSP certificate program is designed to be the initial step in the student’s ability to gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of a Central Sterile Processing Technician and teach students to prepare instruments/packages for processing, decontamination, ultrasonic cleaner disinfection, sterilization, and distribution. Efficient and competent Central Sterile Processing Technicians are a vital member of the surgical team and are intended for the individual desiring to work in sterile processing departments in hospitals, freestanding surgical centers, and physician offices. The certificate program is comprised of 24 semester credit hours with courses in the certificate program delivered through a variety of methods including classroom, laboratory, and clinic settings. The program will have a maximum capacity of 15 students and incorporates courses to ensure students are exposed to and understand the scope and expectations of their desired health profession field. Successful program completion will enable students to obtain a certification as a Central Sterile Processing Technician, procure gainful employment and/or continue into their health profession program of choice.
