Program Description
The Associate in Applied Science, Surgical Technology program prepares students to be eligible to take the National Certification Examination through the National Board of Surgical Technologist and Surgical Assistant (NBSTSA). Graduates will also be eligible to take the Certification Board for Sterile Processing Technician exam. The professional titles assigned to graduates who pass the certification exam are Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and/or Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT). Graduates of the program will be competent, entry-level surgical technologists as evidenced by the application of sterile and aseptic technique, knowledge of human anatomy and physiology and surgical procedures, and the ability to implement tools and technologies to facilitate surgical procedures.
